![]() One of the key elements in our unique building process, EverLife Design™, is the use of green building products and practices. Utilizing EverLife Design™, we take construction to the next level – utilizing design for all principles, while incorporating green building standards. EverLife Design™ is the marriage of green building principles with accessibility for the creation of an environmentally friendly, energy efficient home that is comfortable for all of its occupants. A well-built green home provides lower energy bills, better indoor air quality, higher durability, less maintenance and enhanced value. Green building is not only about products – green building embraces the concept of building a healthier home for its residents and for the environment. The concepts of green building incorporate a holistic approach to building – from site selection to design to products to energy efficiency to air quality to landscaping.
There are over 70 green building programs in the country. However, one does not need to apply for a green certification in one of these programs to include green building in design and construction. We include, as part of our standard building package, many elements that are green, such as Superior Wall foundations, Advantec or Zip Wall System sheathing, recycled cellulose insulation, and low- to no-volatile organic compound (VOC) paints and stains. Also available are certified wood products (which are wood products derived from sustainable forest management practices), geothermal heating and cooling systems, water saving fixtures, energy saving lights and appliances, and many other green options. Every budget has room for sustainable choices. Some homeowners, however, want to go to the next level and obtain green certification in one of the many programs available, and we are happy to assist in that partnership.
In addition to energy savings and reduced fossil fuel usage, building green is simply the right thing to do. Environmental stewardship promotes a reduced impact on the resources available today and leaves a legacy of conservation for future generations. While we can never stop consumption of fossil fuels and resources altogether, being selective and conservation-minded in construction and use of resources will certainly make an impact on the whole. By choosing to incorporate green building elements into your project, you also become a steward of your environment.
